At the Ireland Cancer Center, a registered dietician is
available to help patients maintain a healthy diet and sense of
well-being throughout treatment. The dietician works directly
with other members of the patient care team to develop a
careplan that is tailored to each patient’s specific needs.
Services include:
- Nutritional screening
- Evaluation including nutritional history, dietary habits,
body measurements, and blood tests
- Individualized recommendations of nutritional therapy and
support
- Early interventions to reduce the impact of cancer therapy
on the overall nutritional status of the patient and to
maximize nutritional intake
- Ongoing monitoring of patient’s nutritional status and
response to therapy
- Written educational materials
- Information about nutritional complimentary therapies
